Assistant Director

The University of North Florida is seeking an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education. The position is a tenure-track, full-time faculty appointment. Summer contracts are separate and offered when available. The position requires an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution with a specialization in early childhood/primary education and an emphasis on STEM; at least three years’ experience as an early childhood/primary grades classroom teacher, preferably in a public school setting; a commitment to excellence in teaching, including the ability to model exemplary methods for working with diverse populations of learners; the ability to use instructional technology; demonstrated accomplishments in, or potential for, scholarship and service in a university setting; and a willingness to collaborate extensively with other professionals in early childhood/primary education, including those in local schools and early childhood organizations. Pursuit of an active scholarly agenda and involvement in relevant professional service are also required. The successful candidate will teach various components of early childhood/primary education within undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs, work with student teachers, and assist in developing an early childhood/primary education master’s level program and course work. Preference will be given to individuals who have appropriate early childhood and primary education training and university teaching experience and can contribute to the early childhood/primary grades components of our programs.
